Drawing a Polygon in AutoCAD

AutoCAD is a must have tool for engineers for creating engineering drawings. Architects can also use it for creating impressive architectural designs. The producitivity has been improved greatly with AutoCAD. In this tutorial you will learn how to create a polygon in AutoCAD. Polygon is a plane figure that is bounded by finite number of straight line segments. The segments are called the edges or sides. And the two sides which meet at the point is called vertex or corner. The interior portion of the polygon is known as its body. You can also learn about Drawing a Plate with a Hole.

In order to create a polygon in AutoCAD you need to follow these simple steps.

1st of all you need to open a new drawing and for that you need to click New from the menu bar.
You need to make sure that ORTHO mode is ON (It will be ON when it glow in blue). Click the icon to turn it ON or OFF or press F8 to toggle.
Now type z [space bar], e [space bar] and theis will zoom extents the drawing area.
Now click on Draw>Polygon.
Now you need to enter the number of sides and in this tutorial we will type 6 and then press enter.
Now you have to specify the center of the polygon and type 0,0 [Enter].
Now click on Circumscribed about circle.
Move the cursor upward and then type 1 as polygon radius.
You are done now and with these simple steps you will be able to create polygon (Hexagon in this tutorial) easily.

AutoCAD Coordinates System

AutoCAD is an impressive 3D CAD application which is considered as a must have tool for the engineers. With AutoCAD you can create engineering and architectural designs with ease. In this tutorial you will learn about the Coordinates System. There are 3 different coordinates system which includes Absolute coordinates, Relative coordinates and Polar coordinates. You can also learn about How to password Protect a Folder in Windows 10.

Absolute Coordinates:
IN Absolute Coordinate system all of the input points specify in your drawing by using the standard Cartesian coordinates x and y. The points are entered are typing x,y [Enter]. In order to specify point in Absolute coordinate system in AutoAD you need to follow these simple steps.

1st of all enter the LINE command by pressing L and then [Enter].
Start the line at point A: 0,0 and the press [Enter].
Now specify the ending point of the line at point B: 2,2 and press [Enter].
Now end the 2nd line at point C: 2,3 and press [Enter].
Relative Coordinates:
In Relative coordinate system once the 1st points are entered the next points can be entered by specifying the next coordinate comparing from the 1st points. The relative coordiante starts with @. The points entered in Relative coordinates is by typing @x,y [Enter].

In order to specify your points with Relative coordinate system you need to foollow these simple steps.

1st of all you need to enter LINE command by pressing L and then [Enter].
Now start creating a line at point A: 0,0 and then [Enter].
Now specify the ending point of the line at point B: @2,2 and press [Enter].
Now end the 2nd line at point C: @0,1 and then [Enter].
Polar Coordinates:
Polar coordinates are used for drawing the points by specifying angles. In AutoCAD Polar coordinate system specifies the distance length at which angle. In order to specify points by using Polar coordinate system you need to follow these simple steps.

1st of you you need to enter LINE command by pressing L and then [Enter].
Now start the line at point A: 0,0 and then [Enter].
Now end the 1st line at point B: @2.5<45 and then [Enter]. Enter the 2nd line at point C: @1<90 and then [Enter].

You need to make sure that the ORTHO mode is ON. (It will be ON when it glow in blue.) Click the icon to turn it ON or OFF or press F8 to toggle.
Now type z [space bar]. With this your drawing area will be zoomed.
Now activate the line command by click LINE.
Now specify the 1st point of the line at 0,0. Type 0,0 and then press [Enter].
Now move your cursor towards the right side and then type 8 [Enter].
Now move your cursor up side and then type 4 [Enter].
Now move your cursor towards the left side and then type 4 [Enter].
Now move your cursor up side and then type 4 [Enter].
Now move your cursor towards the left side and then type 4 [Enter].
For closing the sketch loop you need to type c [Space bar].
With this step you will complete creating a simple L-shaped plate in AutoCAD.

How to Draw a Plate with a Hole in AutoCAD

AutoCAD is an impressive 3D application which can be used for creating some amazing engineering drawings and architectural designs. With AutoCAD the productivity will be enahnced greatly. In this tutorial you will elarn how to draw a plate with a hole. You can also learn about Inserting Pictures in MS PowerPoint 2016.

In order to draw a plate with a hole you need to follow these simple steps.

1st of all you need to create a new drawing by clicking New from the Menu bar.
You need to make sure that the ORTHO mode is ON. (It will be ON if it glow in blue) Click the icon to turn it ON or OFF or you can press F8 to toggle.
Now type z [space bar], e [space bar] and theis will zoom extents the drawing area.
Now you need to activate the rectangle command by clicking Rectangle.
Now you need to specify the 1st corner point of the rectangle at 0,0. (Type 0,0 and press Enter.)
Now you need to move your cursor to the right side and then specify other corner point at 10,6. (Type 10,6 and press Enter)
Now is the time to right click at Object Snap Tracking (1) and click Midpoint (2) to activate Midpoint object snap.
Now click in the Line icon and then draw a cross line from left to right. Point your cursor at the midpoint of the rectangle.
You need to click on it when the cursor will change to green triangular shape. That is the midpoint of left vertical line.
Now move the cursor to right edge midpoint and move cursor until it changes to green triangle shape and click on it.
Now is the time to create a hole and for that you need to click CIRCLE.
Now point the center point of the circle at midpoint of the previous line. When the cursor change the green triangle click on it.
Specify the radius of the circle to 2 and for that type 2 and then press Enter.
Now click on the middle line of the rectangle and press Delete key.
With these steps the plate with a hole will be ready.

Working with Hatching or Filling Objects in AutoCAD

AutoCAD is an amazing application which can be used for creating impressive engineering drawings as well as architectural designs. In this tutorial you will learn how to hatch or fill an object or an area. You can also learn How to Draw a Simple Plate in AutoCAD. In order to learn how to hatch or fill an object or an area you need to follow these simple steps.

1st of all you need to click on Home tab>Draw panel>Hatch.
Now from the Properties panel select Hatch type list. Properties panel>Hatch Type list.
On the Pattern panel you need to click a hatch pattern or fill.
From the Boundaries panel you need to specify the how the pattern boundary is selected:
Pick Points. It will insert the hatch or fill within a closed area which is bounded by one or more objects. With this process you will click within the boundaries to specify the area.
Select Boundary Objects. It will hatch or fill within a closed object like circle, closed polyline or set of objects with endpoints which touches and enclose an area.
The selection method will be retained till you change it.

Now click on the area or object which is to be hatched.
ON the ribbon make the adjustments as needed:
On the Properties panel change the hatch type and colors or modify the transparency level, angle or scale for hatching.
On the expanded option panel you can modify the draw order to specify whether the hatch and its boundaries are displayed in front of or behind other objects.
Now press enter for applying the hatch and then exit the command.
